「吉野塗」は、デザイナーが生まれ育った奈良県吉野でかつて栄えた漆器にインスパイアされた手ぬぐいです。江戸時代に繁栄した吉野塗は、現在は廃れてしまったものの、黒漆に朱漆で描かれた美しい花の模様が特徴的です。

この手ぬぐいは、その伝統的な吉野塗の美しさを現代に甦らせた一枚です。描かれている花の正体は明確ではなく、木芙蓉や牡丹、桜などの可能性がありますが、それゆえに神秘的な魅力を放っています。

手ぬぐいにデザインされた花々は、吉野絵のエッセンスを取り入れ、黒地に鮮やかな赤い花が印象的に描かれています。千利休にも愛されたという吉野塗の歴史を、現代に伝える一品です。

【Yoshino Lacquerware】

"Yoshino Lacquerware" is a tenugui inspired by traditional lacquerware that once flourished in Yoshino, Nara Prefecture, where the designer was born and raised. This style of lacquerware thrived during the Edo period but has since faded into history. It is characterized by beautiful floral patterns drawn in red lacquer on a black lacquer base.

This tenugui brings the timeless beauty of Yoshino Lacquerware to the present day. The exact identity of the flowers depicted remains unclear—they could be hibiscus, peonies, or cherry blossoms—adding an air of mystery to the design.

The flowers are illustrated in vivid red against a black background, capturing the essence of the traditional "Yoshino-e" style. The legendary beauty of Yoshino Lacquerware, once cherished by tea master Sen no Rikyu, is now preserved in this modern creation.
