縄文時代後期に作られたとされる「遮光器土偶」をモチーフにした手ぬぐいです。遮光器土偶は、その名の通り、まるで雪国のゴーグル「遮光器」をかけたような大きな目が特徴的な土偶で、豊穣や祈りの象徴として作られたとも言われています。

【Shakōki-Dogū】

This tenugui features a design inspired by the Shakōki-Dogū, a clay figurine from the late Jomon period. The Shakōki-Dogū is named for its striking, large eyes, which resemble “shakōki,” or snow goggles. Believed to symbolize fertility or serve ritual purposes, these figurines hold a mysterious charm rooted in Japan’s ancient history.
